    Note From the Principal

    Dear Parents and Families,
It is hard to believe it is October already! Students have settled into their new classrooms and new friendships have been formed. It is exciting to visit the classrooms and see the growth our students have made in such a short time period.

As we journey together, we need to remember that our goal is the same, the best education for all our students. We need to be thankful for each one’s contribution, no matter how big or small, as every contribution is valued and important to our growth as a school community. As we celebrate our school successes throughout the year, I encourage us to always be thankful for our school, our community, our friends and families. Let us be thankful for what we can offer and what we can accomplish as a team.

Attendance at school is very important. When students arrive late or are picked up before dismissal, teaching and learning are disrupted. Please make every effort to have your child in school from 7:55-2:25 each day.

This past summer the SPS “Seattle Super Readers” kicked off the program by encouraging students to read for 20 minutes a day throughout the summer. To continue the support for this initiative one of our goals at GH is for all students reading at grade level by third grade, especially our 3rd grade African-American boys/youth. As a community we are embracing this ambitious reading movement and using a variety of strategies to ignite literacy at Graham Hill.

The PTA for our school site is wonderful. Any and all help is always appreciated with our school’s fundraising events and other activities. Once again, we appreciate all your efforts to support our school. The administration and staff would like to thank all the support that has been devoted to our children from the Graham Hill PTA Officers and members. It has been great.
